Buddy's Leg Amputation

Donation protected
Buddy is our two-year old German Shepard/Bloodhound mix. On September 16th he unexpectedly jumped out of a bedroom window in our home when we left for the fair. When he jumped out, he ran to the road and then got hit by a car. After being struck by the vehicle, our neighbors began trying to coax him back into our fenced-in yard, but he ran away. Buddy's right front leg was described as "dangling." As we had not been home, we knew nothing. We hadn't seen him and didn't have any clues as to how bad he was possibly hurt. For 16 days we all searched through woods, creeks, called for him, laid out blankets and clothing, handed out/hung up flyers, involved the police, informed our town, we tried everything. He was all over social media as well. We had received many calls stating he may be roaming, so we would hurry and go look. Each time we were devastated and unfortunate to return home without our Buddy. For 16 days our Buddy roamed who knows where, hungry, lost, cold, and probably scared, but on October 3rd, we received a call from a woman who lived down the street saying her son had seen our Buddy! We rushed down to see and sure enough! Our miracle baby walked up to us on THREE legs! Thats right, THREE!! His bone on his right front leg was sticking out and his leg was bleeding and swollen. He was very skinny and very hungry. After feeding him and getting him water, we called vet after vet. No one could help us unless we had cash up front. Which we did not. My mother just had two surgeries a week ago, therefore times are tough. I have taken out a CareCredit card, but this vet bill has to be paid off in 6 months- 1 year.  Buddy will have his leg amputated today (Wednesday October 4th, 2017), and the bill can range quite a bit. We have set our goal to $3,500 because the surgery alone is $2,200, but not including x-rays, medicine, anesthesia, wraps, a cone to prevent licking, etc... This has been one of the toughest things we've faced, but we know that Buddy is a survivor and with Grace and Mercy we will make it through!! We appreciate any and all donations, and we thank each and every kind-hearted person that has been with us through this traumatizing time and has helped in many ways including love and support. Buddy is amazing! Thank you again!
