Buddy the Elf Needs Holiday Help

Donation protected
On Saturday morning I spent an hour praying in the morning and playing with my animals. I always ask God to put me where I need to be and where I can be a blessing. I went and got groceries then decided to stop by the gas station to fill up. The ever dreaded gas light had come on. I wasn't looking forward to getting out of the car. It was 39 degrees and raining. As I pulled into Circle K I saw a big, sweet black dog with an underbite. He was walking up to people, then moving away when they approached, waiting patiently to see what they dropped for him before moving up to eat more.

I sat on the curb and gave an offering of bacon from the breakfast sandwich I had picked up for my husband. He walked towards me, sniffed my face, then bent down to eat the bacon. I asked him if he had been dumped or if he was lost. He didn't answer of course but just stared at me. I told him I was sorry for whatever had happened and I was going to help him. We would find his family or find him a family that would love him forever. It was raining and cold, I wouldn't leave him there. He would be safe and have plenty to eat, he didn't have to be afraid.

Then the rescue took a turn. I hadn't taken into account his weight. I was going to have to muster up some extra strength to pick him up and put him in my Jeep. I did it and he look appreciative. He just laid down and his whole body relaxed. I brought him home.

I have posted photos on facebook, nextdoor, and pawboost. I've put up flyers and gone back to the gas station to talk to the manager and gave her a flyer. I've contacted the city shelter and humane society to let them know about him. I also took him to get checked for a microchip which he didn't have. Buddy the Elf now needs to go to the vet. He needs to be vaccinated, get blood tests, get treated for worms, and start heartworm preventive. He also needs to be neutered. I wish he didn't, it's harder on them when they're not young but, I'll take good care of him while he recovers.

I'm asking for help for his vet bills and care that he needs while I search for a family for him, if his doesn't show up. Thank you for reading Buddy's story. Have a very Merry Christmas and holiday season!
