About 16 months ago, my dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. He has ferociously battled, taking on the harshest chemo treatments and radiation in an effort to fight his battle. He has Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer, and on his behalf, I am raising money for both research and his costs of care.
This November, I will be running the New York City Marathon with Project Purple, an organization whose mission is to find a cure for pancreatic cancer and improve the lives of patients through support, hope, and compassion. Through their team, I will donate a minimum of $3,500 towards this research, and run in honor of the fight my dad takes on every day! We have personally been supported by this organization, helping my Dad receive some of the best care in the country to fight this disease.
The rest of the funds will be used to focus on my dad's care, including the medical costs and out of pocket expenses for my family as we support his battle and try to help with his care by being with him.
This year pancreatic cancer surpassed breast cancer and became the third leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. It is more important than ever that we continue to work hard towards reversing this trend and use research to find a cure!!
