Bud Gardler Scholarship Fund

The Bud Gardler Scholarship Fund is founded in the memory of legendary Philadelphia Catholic League coach, Buddy Gardler. It is founded on the belief that any motivated, talented, student/athlete who cannot afford a Catholic education should have the opportunity to further his or her talents at a Catholic High School. By removing some of the financial burdens associated with going to, surviving in, and graduating from Cardinal O'Hara High School, where Bud coached and taught for 46 years of his life, the Bud Gardler Scholarship Fund will play a role in helping one child get the education they deserve.

The scholarship will provide an individual grant, paid directly to the Cardinal O'Hara High School, to the student who qualifies for the scholarship. The grant can be used to cover tuition expenses and related supplemental educational expenses such as books, fees, and tuition.

Once per year, in June, the Gardler family will review all applicants for the Scholarship and will select one eligible student, male or female, that will be awarded the scholarship based on academic merit, especially in English and Literature, and athletics.
