Bucks for Duck! (Shane Nelson)

Donation protected
Over the years Shane has been a big part of our circle of friends.  Many have come to know him as Shane the Duck, Duck, Shane Duck.  He gave himself that nickname and it has stuck.  Fits well.  He’s always willing to lend a hand, he adds fun, laughter and is always a good time.  He works hard for what he has and to provide for his pride and joy, Dylan.  For the past 6-7 month Shane has been working with my husband, Tyson.  Those two are a great team and work well together.  They talk to each other without talking and somehow know what the other is saying.  In December Shane started to not feel well and surgery had to happen.  Shane’s health as it stands he is unable to work.  He wants nothing more than to be out working with Tyson and doing the things he loves.

I’ve created this GoFundMe for Shane to help with medical and daily living expenses.  There is no possible date for when Shane will be able to return to work.  Please help me in taking some financial worry off of Shane and his family’s shoulders so he can focus on recovery.

Here is Shane’s story…

At the age of 14 a blood clot was found in his leg, since then he has been taking blood thinners daily. In 2001, another blood clot in the liver to the Vena Cava.  Surgery to put a stint in his liver was done, also then being diagnosed with Factor 2, Factor V Lieden, and Lupus anticoagulant.

Shane’s health maintained, continuing to do things he loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his son, working auto body.   Moving forward to May 2015, another blood clot had formed in his intestine resulting in surgery.  Shane spent a month recovering in the hospital.  During recovery other complications arose resulting in Shane needing skin grafts around his hips.

This past December Shane hadn’t been feeling well, he finally gave in and went to the hospital.  Doctors found that Shane had a bowel obstruction needing surgery to correct this.  Doctors also removed scar tissue from the 2015 surgery.  Shane underwent a few surgeries during this stay.  On January 19th Shane had yet another surgery to insert a new stint in his liver this entailed going through neck and groin arteries.

Each time Shane has a surgery he has to go through Plasma Pharesis (filtering his blood) 4-5 times otherwise antibodies attach to his cells.  Recovery time for each surgery is very extensive, leaving Shane unable to work, enjoy time with his son Dylan or the outdoors he loves so much.

In between each hospital stay there are doctor and specialist appointments.  Medical bills, expenses and prescription costs add up.  Shane has a long road to recovery and possible future surgeries.  Any amount you can donate will be appreciated beyond words.
