Bucks for Brody
UPDATE 3/12/18-
Brody’s body grew too tired from
fighting the horrible cancer and his mama had to make the ultimate sacrifice to end that pain.  Brody was humanely euthanized in the comfort of his home and in his mom’s arms.

I will I’ll work on finding out exact cost totals and will note that once known.

UPDATE 3/2/18-
Brody’s journey continues with chemotherapy….which won’t cure him but will hopefully make him more comfortable and slow down the spread. With the cost of chemo, there is also the cost of CT scans to monitor and assure we are making a difference in the tumor. Brody is also seeing Dr. Choi at the U of M who does complementary medicine in conjunction w/ the traditional medicine. We’ve had the Go Fund Me, which has helped a lot- but she’s still at about $5,200 out of pocket w/ the expenses already incurred and expected costs. If you are able to help lessen some of that financial impact for her, I know she and Bro appreciate it. Lisa gives her all to everyone, it’s our turn to wrap around her & the Broadster!

UPDATE 2/13/18- The U of M will do surgery on Thursday 2/15/18 for Brody's umor. The plan is to remove the tumor and spleen-- imaging does not show that it has spread, but we know that things may look different once they are in there. If they can't remove the tumor, they will put him back in the CT to scan and map the tumor some more to know where to target radiation/ chemo. With a successful surgery and potentially chemo as an adjunct therapy, Brody could have 9 months- year-- which gets him close to his natural life span. Witout it, it's only 2 months or so. The chemo may end up being covered under a study, which is ideal!

Lisa has spent $4,730 already, and this fund helped pay $2,200 of that or so. She is anticipating around $3k in surgery/scan costs Thursday- he will be staying overnight one or two nights. If all goes well, we are looking at just a 2 week recovery time! Again, he's really been feeling well/ asymptomatic, so everyone is hopeful.

Please help out someone who helps everyone else out!! Every bit counts!!

Brody went in for a lump, but upon exam the vet found another concern- a firm belly. A quick ultrasound was done and it was determined there was a large mass. Brody went in yesterday for an in depth ultrasound, biopsies, UA, and blood work. They have sent samples out and it's either Adenocarcinoma or Transitional Cell Carcinoma. Neither is favorable-- but the one good thing is it appears this may have been caught early and Brody is otherwise in great health thanks to his mom, Lisa.

Lisa adopted Brody from MN Boxer Rescue-- he was suffering from a badly broken leg. She has worked hard to get him healthy, and then a few years back he developed Boxer Cardiomyopathy. Last year he had a MCT removed from a complicated area- and just those two things alone last year racked up over $4k in bills. She had been doctoring with Twin Cities Rehab to get him in good condition and he was supposed to start Hydro this week.  Yesterday was $1k and more to come if she does chemo to keep the tumor at bay and help Brody get through the Summer months so he can camp and enjoy the sunshine and lake at his grandparents' home.

Lisa was looking at her 401K yesterday and figuring out plans- I hate when financial worries have to sit on top of the other worries and grief. Lisa is a long term volunteer/ foster and just a darn good human being. She doesn't have the latest phone or ipad or car.... she lives a pretty simple life and never shorts on what she does for her boy. She always gives to whatever cause is out there.  I'm hoping we can come together to make the worries a little less and help her just enjoy her buddy.

Brody feels like my other dog in many ways, he and Olive have always been so darn connected, it's amazing. We love Brody & Lisa and want to make this journey a little less scary for them. I am sure if the money is not all needed it'll go to good use with rescue or a memorial for Bro.
