Buckeyebret - Run for Addiction, Mental Health and Veterans
Donation protected
Bret Buike here again, AKA Buckeyebret and we are getting ready for our 4th, WOW, let me take that in for a second 4th, Goggins Challenge to help raise money for Drug and Alcohol Addiction, Mental Health and Veteran Suicide Prevention.
Why, thats a great question. The short answer is I lost my Sister-In-Law Kate Holton, to a drug overdose, my nephew Justice Buike to verteran suicide. I didnt take it very well and I felt like I let them and my family down. I always thought it was something I should have been able to FIX.
What I know now is that there were valuable resources available to me I knew nothing about and I dont want other families or others who are suffering to go with out the help they need.
My goal is to raise awareness and to help remove the stigma of getting help by doing crazy shit, being open and honest about my own mental health journey and raising funds to support organizations like the Nord Center in Lorain County Ohio and Recovery Resources in Cuyahoga County Ohio, so I can help other families and people in need as well as honor of those who I have lost.
I will Complete the Goggins Challenge by running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours in honor of those who I lost that I love and I will also do it for yours. Please share with me your stories of loss, of current struggle and of success. I also appreciate any donations you can make. All funds wil be split between The Nord Center and Recovery resources of which I am a Board Member of both to help those in need in the communities we live in.
I will be running August 9-11th. you can run with me along the way in person, virtually, or at 2 planned 5k events taking place that weekend as well. The Run for Recovery on August, 10th and the Mind over Miles run on August 11th. See you soon!
Thank you in advance for running with me, for your support and your donations.
