It will never happen to me... Tragedy and medical emergencies only happen to other people... That's what we always think, but unfortunately, sometimes it does happen to us, and when it does, we need all of the the love and support we can get. Below is the story of a young couple, Nick, age 26 and Nicole and their 2 young daughters, Sydney (4) and Adelynn (2).
Friday evening, July 14th, Nicole watched her husband walk out of the door, unaware that it may be the last time she sees him walk again.
That night, Nick was involved in a horrific single car accident which has left him with 2 fractures in his spine, along with other injuries, and uncertantity on if he will ever be able to walk again.
Nick faces extensive medical care and rehab after he is stable from the initial surgery after the accident. Preliminary estimate is that he will be in a wheelchair no less than 1 year, if he even regains his ability to walk.
Nicole is now forced to be the sole financial supporter of the family while Nick heals. In the meantime, she will need help with unexpected medical expenses and alterations to the home to make the doors and bathrooms wheelchair accessable and to build a ramp for the front door.
