Bubbles' Surgery @ Texas A&M

UPDATE: After meeting with the Neurologists at Texas A&M, we have a better picture of what Bubbles needs. We have been approved for two grants through the university, Capper & Chris Fund and The Star Grant for a total of $2000.00! We had raised $3000.00 before the Hurricane and so far we have raised $1370.00 on this GoFundMe. I have changed the goal amount after meeting with the Dr.s at A&M, so here is a summary of what I know as of now. Because Bubbles is so small and is so young, her skull is obviously still growing. The Dr.s have reached out to a bio-engineering company to develop a material that can be used to make the mesh for the implant that she needs to close the hole in her skull that will expand and grown with her as she grows. This is groundbreaking technology as this has never been done in a dog before. Cutting edge technology takes time, as you might imagine but every day that the meningocele remains on the outside of her skull, she is at risk of it rupturing, which would result in her death. We will go back to College Station on 9/19 for a 3-D CT Scan to model her skull and most likely she will have an initial surgery on 9/20 to remove the meningocele and close the opening with a temporary implant to get her out of harms way while the permanent implant is developed and manufactured. The cost of these two surgeries are estimated to be between $9000.00-$10,000.00 barring any complications. This is why I have increased the goal of this fundraiser. Please know that if for any reason, Bubbles does not need all of these funds or in the event that we exceed our goal, all excess funds will go to pay off our existing balance at our regular Rescue Veterinary Hospital, Sienna @ 6 Veterinary Hospital. We currently have a balance for all of our regular vetting, spay/neuters, blood work, X-Rays, Meds, Heart Worm Treatments, Quarantine Boarding etc in excess of $10,000.00. So all funds will go directly to rescue vetting, after Bubbles surgical cost have been met. Huge Thank You to our Rock Star Rescue Vet Dr. Manual Sanchez for letting us crazy dog ladies pay as we go so we can help dogs in need, knowing he will be there to tend to their medical needs! We normally pay on this balance with adoption donations, but as soon as it's paid down we run it right back up again with the never ending needs of Houston's homeless pets! My unending gratitude goes out to all of our wonderful supporters, we couldn't do this without you!


Bubbles was turned in to a high kill animal shelter 3 weeks ago with a bubble of Cranial Spinal Fluid that had come through the open fontenal on top of her head. She had a CT Scan to determine if she is a good candidate for surgery to fix the defect and close the fontenal, she is a candidate for surgery bc the defect only has Cranial spinal Fluid and no brain tissue so her long term outcome is positive. This surgery costs $6000.00. We had raised $3000.00 before the hurricane hit, we still need $3000.00. Bubbles and I are in College Station for an Appointment with a neurologist at Texas A&M tomorrow. Can you help Bubbles have her surgery so she can be the normal puppy that she thinks she is?
