This page has been set up to raise money for two Charities -BBC Children in Need (c.n.802052) and the Queens Centre Palliative Care team based at Castle Hill in the East Riding of Yorkshire (c.n 17032) which provides primarily care for cancer patients from across the region. Donations will be shared equally between the charities.

On the 29th September 2018 an event has been organised for a group of friends and work colleagues to climb Mount Snowdon. Maria Caravaca-Lawson, Gemma Walters, Caroline Douse, Maureen Fitzsimmons, Meggie Chan, Helen Chapman, Caroline Regan, Rachel Johnson, Yvonne Kinghorn, Tania Brown, Helal Ahmed, Scott Maguire and Howard Field will participate in this event.

The Queens Centre Specialist Palliative Care team was selected in memory of, Jenny Caravaca who sadly passed away after an 18-month battle with bone marrow cancer in July 2018. The cancer had progressed to various areas of her body and over this period although she was very brave, without the support of the Queens Specialist Palliative Care team her quality of life would not have been as positive in the last few months of her life.  Jenny’s family and her two daughters Maria and Gemma, who are participating in this activity are indebted and grateful to the Queens Specialist Palliative Care team who provided their mum Jenny with support during the final months of her life.

Maria and Gemma and friends would like to give something back, to other families who go through this experience when a relative has an advanced progressive illness. Your donations will help others to be provided with the same level of outstanding care, equipment and emotional support that Jenny received, your donations will ensure this happens.

This fundraising activity all are also dedicated to improving the circumstances of children.

The Children in Need Charity raises funds to help children facing a range of disadvantages for example poverty and deprivation. Children who have been the victims of abuse or neglect or disabled young people. The charity helps support a wide range of projects and good local causes in areas nationwide.

Children in Need is currently supporting 2,400 projects all across the UK. This includes projects in the local areas of North East Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and the East Riding.  Please donate generously to contrbute to these worthwhile causes.
