Please help bring my Grandmother home!
My Grandparents, as the do every year, embarked on their jollies to their beloved Turkey. Only this year their usual summer holiday became an absolute nightmare.
Within a day of being there my 77 year old Grandmother became ill with pneumonia and was taken into hospital. Believing insurance would cover her, we as a family just prayed she would recover in time to enjoy at least some of her holiday. Except she took a turn for the worse and had the be put under sedation and intubated as her heart was struggling to cope with the strain.
After a week, she was thankfully strong enough to be woken up, although she is still very ill and needs an oxygen tube to breathe. Their holiday has been and gone and over 3 weeks later my Grandmother is still in hospital.
Here is our heartbreak, their insurance company will not pay the costs. My grandparents have been using the same company every year and have always been upfront with any and all conditions but they say different. So with the mounting medical costs from her stay in hospital and the added cost of an air ambulance, because my Grandmother cannot fly home without her constant supply of oxygen, we are looking at a bill of a minimum of £21,000 before they will release her to return home.
My poor Grandfather who is 82 is sat by her side, worried sick about how we're going to get her home. He is all alone and scared, knowing there is just no way he is able to come up with the money. They are pensioners who live in a council house who manage to get by on what little they have. And us, their family, unable to be with them because of the cost of flights. We are all beside ourselves with worry and are desperate to raise whatever we can.
And what's even worse is that everyday she's there, the bill increases so time really is of the essence.
Please, please donate what you can so that my Grandmother can come home to her family. Every penny you can spare will be so gratefully received.
