Please take a moment to help us support a wonderful person. Gina was recently diagnosed with Recurrent Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She first battled with this disease 5 years ago. She successfully beat it with a lot of fighting and support from some great people. Since then, she has managed to start living her life again and even recently got engaged. But a couple of weeks ago Gina has found out that she has to fight again.
We're asking for your help.
For those unfamiliar with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a it is a blood cancer of the lymphatic system. It typically starts in the chest, neck, or underarm and then may spread to other organs like the liver or lungs. In Gina's case, it started in her chest and has spread to her abdomen.
Her treatment is going to consist of Chemotherapy, Radiation, and Stem Cell Transplantation. The Chemotherapy involves trips to the hospital three days in a row, followed by nine days off, and then another three days at the hospital, in a cycle that will last for months. Radiation will also be done at the hospital here in Charlotte, but the Stem Cell Transplant involves traveling to Duke Medical in Durham.
With all that, there is a lot of costs and a lot of time off from work.
