BSOTC Capacity Building Fundraiser

Tax deductible
Your support can make a difference!

Our Black-led and volunteer-based, 501(c)(3) California nonprofit organization was established in August 2020 in San Francisco’s diverse and historic Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood. Our mission is to provide resources through impactful dialogue that empowers the Black and Brown communities to become economically self-sufficient.

BSOTC's platform provides an authentic, unbiased open space for people in San Francisco to reflect on their hopes and dreams in ways that contest negative stereotypes, advance racial equity, and allow them to bond together during a global pandemic. Guests on our weekly shows talk about personal inequities they have experienced and the resources their respective organizations provide. The persistence of profound racial disparities and divisions across society is evidence of institutional racism — the routine, often invisible and unintentional, production of inequitable social opportunities and outcomes. Racial inequality is often unconsciously replicated when racial equity is not consciously addressed. This collective dialogue with others is committed to addressing racial equity through lots of practice. When discussions of race and racism become normalized, the promise of equity can be realized.

We have been a vessel for impactful information and resources for our communities. More than eighty-five percent (85 %) of the population served and impacted are residents who reside in Bayview Hunters Point, Potrero Hill, Fillmore/Western Addition, Mission, Tenderloin, and Excelsior neighborhoods. We partner with organizations to assist youth and families with navigating support systems to close educational, health, and wealth gaps, with an intentional focus on the Black and Brown community. Our long-term purpose is a planned long-term investment in each family, combined with a structured partnership between city agencies and community partners to make a lasting impact in individual families’ lives.

COVID has impacted our development process, and we are facing challenging times. We've created this fundraiser to benefit Both Sides of the Conversation in capacity building and program development. We are volunteer-based and have a dedicated team that works long hours producing our weekly shows, maintaining our social media sites, our weekly youth mentor programs, supporting local businesses, and participating in the local community and CBO events.

With the financial assistance we receive from our community, we look to utilize these funds to provide paid employment opportunities, obtain innovative media software & equipment, and fund our youth program including job training, mentorship and mental health services.

Your donation will help make an impact, ease the financial burden we currently face in our organization, and allow us to continue our service to the community through our digital platform.
