Black Students for Revolution (BSFR) is a student organization based at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Since 2015, BSFR has hosted dozens of political education events, organized campaigns to help build Black student power, and formed relationships with the Black community of Champaign through programs such as the Assata Shakur Reading Group and monthly community discussions in collaboration with the Speak Truth Collective.
Our most recent project, drums.black , is a revival of a Black Power era University of Illinois (UIUC) newsletter named DRUMS.
In Spring 2017, Black Students for Revolution (BSFR) revived the newsletter in the form of a printed zine during a campaign to save the UIUC's African American Studies Department from further budget cuts and mismanagement . In December, we launched drums.black as a digital platform for a wide range of Black cultural, social, and political topics to serve the local Black Champaign-Urbana community and all African people wherever they are found.
To grow our capacity to do this work, we now turn to the public for assistance. Please consider donating whatever you can to our efforts.
Your donation will be used to help maintain the drums.black website, create opportunities for young Black writers, and aid the political and cultural education programs of BSFR.
