Tents for Troop 23

Troop 23 is a Boy Scout Troop in Hoover, Alabama and this is our first major capital campaign in ten years. Our Scouts perform various fundraising activities throughout the year to support their personal activities and Eagle projects, but the Troop finds itself in need of some additional equipment, including new tents, ground clothes and improvements to our cargo trailer.

Rather than sell popcorn, peddle cookie dough door to door or harass you with wrapping paper, we decided to start a capital campaign and simply ask for your support. By doing this, a greater percentage of the money stays with the Troop and benefits the Scout, rather than paying for overpriced goods and services. Over 92% of the money collected will be delivered to the Troop and directly benefit your Scout. Your donations can be tax deductible as well.

Our Troop has been operating with the same tents for over ten years. We have made good use of our equipment, but it is time that we replace the torn, leaking and musty tents. We need 25 tents to support our 60 Scouts. Good equipment that will stand up to Scout use isn't cheap, but we have identified sturdy Alps Mountaineering tents at a great price. We need to raise $3,000 to outfit the Troop in new tents for another ten years. Trailer improvements and bus maintenance make up the remainder of our $5,000 goal.
