The WPC Choir is designed to unite voices from around the world into a global choir, bringing the Parkinson's community together through song! Voices from over 50 countries will join collectively from all over the world, each person bringing unique qualities to the group dynamic, and to the musical output of the chorus. There is NO COST to join the choir – it is an added bonus to your WPC2016 experience!!!
A special song has been written for the WPC Choir – lyrics adapted by WPC 2016 Advocates Committee from “Song for the Mira” by Allister McGillivray.
WHY DOES THE CHOIR NEED FINANCIAL HELP?
The WPC Choir needs financial assistance to help pay for two student grants, purchase choir scarves & ties, and assist with travel expenses for the volunteer band musicians.
1. Student Grants -- We are offering two student grants for Music Therapy Students from Seattle Pacific University. The students will be responsible to help with the organization and rehearsals of the choir. This is an excellent opportunity for young people planning a career in music therapy.
2. Choir scarves & ties -- We would like all 100+ choir members to have a "remembrance" of the WPC experience. The scarves and ties will be worn throughout the WPC 2016.
3. Travel expenses for Band musicians -- The WPC Opening Ceremony will highlight a song performed by the 100+ WPC Choir, and will include professional musicians - all whom have been touched by Parkinson's. The band will include keyboard, 2 guitars, bass, flute. All musicians are from the Pacific Northwest.
HOW SOON DO WE NEED THE FUNDING?
The funding is required by May 31, 2016 to confirm the Student Grants and Band musicians, and order the scarves/ties.
WHY DOES THIS MEAN SO MUCH?
The healing power of music will be a MAJOR part of the WPC - The triennial World Parkinson Congresses provide an international forum for dialogue on the latest scientific discoveries, medical practices and caregiver initiatives related to Parkinson’s disease (PD).
Mission of World Parkinson Coalition Inc.(WPC)
The mission of WPC is to provide an international forum to learn about the latest scientific discoveries, medical practices, caregiver initiatives and advocacy work related to Parkinson's disease. By bringing physicians, scientists, nurses, rehabilitation specialists, care partners and people with Parkinson's disease together, each Congress allows for a worldwide dialogue to help expedite the discovery of a cure and best treatment practices for this devastating disease.

Who can join the WPC Choir?
The WPC Choir is open to ALL WPC conference attendees: People with Parkinson’s, care partners, family, friends, research teams, medical professionals, non-profit professionals, students and WPC sponsors.
