Bruny Family Homeless in a Few Days

Donation protected
Hello. My name is Kevin Bruny. My beautiful wife is Ashley, and our daughters are Hannah Rose (2 years) and Faith Angeline (8 months.) Our little family will be homeless as of October 10th because we have to move out of our apartment. Now, there are several agencies, non-profits and resources available to us so that this won't happen, but in all honesty, although I am prepared to go this route, I am also a bit nervous about it. I mean, who wouldn't be? Plus, a lot of these places don't accommodate families or are filled to capacity.

I have been unemployed for an agonizing 16 months. We have been helped by friends, some family, and mostly our church, but at this time, we can no longer receive help. Our unemployment has stopped completely and tomorrow we should start receiving government cash aid (which is a small amount, but something.) Most importantly, the economy of our county and even the state is horrible. We live in Redlands (the jewel of the inland empire) but the county we live in has the highest poverty and unemployment rate in all of California. California is so overcrowded and expensive that so many people are looking for any sort of job just to make ends meet. Sure, companies are hiring, but because there are so many more applicants, your chances of landing a job are slim. On top of that, because there is so much competition, employers are raising the requirements for a position.

We are on a few prayer chains and in many people's prayers...and that is when I received a phone call that would give me the hope and desire I now have. I believe God is faithful and will provide, so I never really struggled or worried about our future. This woman (the daughter of a friend of mine) suggested moving out of state. She also mentioned that her church (in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) might be willing to help us and that perhaps doors in California weren't opening for a reason. Immediately after speaking with her, my wife and I researched Pittsburgh. WE FELL IN LOVE. The moment I saw that the unemployment rate was 6% instead of the 12% where I live, I was hooked. A brand new start, snow (instead of 100 degree weather 5 months out of the year, great hospitals and schools, history and culture, cheaper cost of living, and did I mention A BETTER CHANCE AT FINDING A JOB! :)

It was this past Sunday that I found out that my friend's church couldn't commit to helping us financially at this time because they couldn't afford it either. We were heartbroken. All I need is a job, a chance, an opportunity, tangible help. If only I could get a job there...but how could I without being there? Well, if there is a will, there's a way. I researched and researched and that is when I came across this wonderful website that allows people to help people. What a concept! So, here I am. I am asking for help to move my family and belongings (in a trailer, pod or moving truck) to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a job opportunity and a new start. It is our heart's desire to do so, and I believe that God will make a way. My resume is already being shopped around and am applying online with several companies. I would need to pay for storage and for a motel/hotel until I landed a job and we could get on our feet. Thank you for reading this and being a part of our story.
