Hurricane Florence hit the east coast on September 15th, 2018, leaving a path of destruction and devastation. While the residents of Brunswick County evacuated due to the path of the storm, emergency personnel remained put to protect the lives and property of the county.
Among the emergency personnel, one deputy lost everything he had. Meet Deputy Ronald Clarke. Deputy Clarke has served the Sheriff's Office in many ways and accomplished many great things along the way. Deputy Clarke said goodbye to his 3 girls and his wife as they left the state during the evacuation.
While being stationed at shelter, Hurricane Florence tore through the county leaving record rain falls, high winds, and devastating flooding. Deputy Clarke was able to come home on 09/18/2018 to find his home completely flooded and the water above his roof.
Deputy Clarke never asks for anything, always goes above and beyond to help others. Deputy Clarke is in a time of need due to not having insurance on his rental property. Deputy Clarke lost everything inside of his house, from his children's clothes, to sentimental items such as his fathers guitar, pictures, and every day living items.
This campaign is not expected to replace all the items in the house, but simply show that the "thin blue line" runs far and deep in the community he serves.
Deputy Clarke is unaware of this campaign and will be presented a check of the donations received to help establish his family back to normal.
We thank you Deputy Clarke for everything you do for this department, community, and everyone you come into contact with..
