Brubaker Family Medical Support Fund

Donation protected
At the end of March, my 10-year old niece, Norah Brubaker, went into septic shock after contractiing an extremely rare combination of a virus and bacterial infection. For the following 3+ weeks, an excellent PICU team did everything that they could do to stabilize and treat Norah's condition. She fought hard and there were times that we thought we started to see progress only to suffer one setback after another. On April 19th, Norah Brubaker passed away after suffering multiple strokes the day before.

I started this campaign to cover what I assumed would be substantial medical expenses well as long term costs for recovery and lifestyle adjustments. While there will certainly still be medical bills, the family's financial needs have shifted significantly from long term support to finding a way to affect her community in a way that honors Norah's name. For now, I have turned off donations to this campaign, but I will continue to keep you updated as we determine how we can best celebrate Norah and honor her memory. Once the family has determined how they would like to move forward, we will invite you to join us in this endeavor and as a way to carry the torch that my niece can no longer carry.

That will certainly take time. If you would like to do something before then, the family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to Red Wing Academy Scholarship Fund, Tiller Strings, PO Box 64, Harrisonburg VA 22803 and/or Shenandoah Valley Children’s Choir, www.svcc.org.

Thanks again for your continued support.
