Brooke's Funeral/Memorial

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of our sweet angel Brooke.  She has gained her wings, been freed of her pain, and is now with her brother in Heaven.

Brooke and her older brother Alex both suffered from a rare genetic disorder called BATTEN DISEASE. This is a monster of a disease that steals the childhood and lives of little ones and the family and friends that care for them.  There are different forms of the disease; Brooke and her brother Alex both suffered from Late Infantile Batten Disease.

The siblings were both hitting all their growth milestones until around the ages of 3 (Alex), and 4 (Brooke) years old when they started to have seisures and began to regress in already developed motor skills. In the end they were bedridden with 24/7 care and succumed to the disease at the ages of 8 (Alex), and 9 (Brooke).

Brooke has been the face of courage and hope to others that suffer from this disease as well as to her family and friends. She has brought much needed awareness to Batten Disease and even undergone a trial gene therapy in hopes to help find a cure for this horrific debilitating disease.

Brooke's family has struggled through the years to keep up with all of the expenses of having sick children. These expenses include special medical equipment, medications, and often unexpected emergency trips to the Chidren's Hospital in Calgary, an hour and a half away from where they reside in Innisfail, Alberta.

We are asking for any amount of help to cover the cost of FUNERAL/MEMORIAL services and other expenses that are incurred by her passing. If you can't help with a donation then please help by sharing this page if just to spread awareness of this aweful disease so that we can find a cure.

Beautiful Brooke will be remembered and missed by so many, but perhaps none so much as her beautiful, strong, amazing mother who devoted her life to taking care of her precious daughter.

Please help this family in any way you can, by either donating or spreading awareness. Spreading awareness will also help other families that are still dealing with this rare genetic disease.

REST IN PEACE sweet Brooke. Although your life was so short, you have done so much to change the world in the face of this disease.

Thank you!

We love and miss you so much.
