<div>I've been working in real estate with Rod for almost a year now. He is an energetic and goofy soul who loves his family with every fiber of his being and is a very dedicated father and husband. Additionally, he is kind and always willing to help as needed around the workplace and community. His wife, Megan, is so kind and caring, bringing their adorable little girl to the office to visit Rod and drop off his lunch every day while also co-managing their local coffee house.

<div><strong>Rod and Megan Dirks are the heart and soul behind Essence Coffee Roasters here in Sequim, WA</strong>, a gathering place that has brought warmth and connection to so many in our community. In addition to running their beloved coffee shop, Rod also works as a dedicated real estate agent with the Brody Broker Team at IDEAL Real Estate, helping families find their dream homes. Together, they are raising their sweet 2-year-old daughter, Maeli, and filling their days with love, laughter, and hard work.

<div>Recently, Rod was diagnosed with a rare cancer called myxoid liposarcoma, a diagnosis that has turned their world upside down. To treat this, Rod and his family will need to spend a month in Seattle where Rod will undergo specialized radiation therapy, followed by surgery to remove the tumor, and Megan will care for him while he goes through treatment. While the cancer itself is not particularly aggressive, the location of the tumor poses significant challenges, including a chance that Rod could lose his left leg as part of the surgical procedure he will undergo following radiation therapy.

<div>This journey comes with tremendous physical, emotional, and financial challenges. Sequim is located on the Olympic Peninsula, which is too far away from Seattle to travel for daily treatments and tests. Housing, even the temporary kind, is very expensive in Seattle. In addition to needing to cover a place to stay while seeking medical care, Rod and Megan will be away from their coffee shop, and Rod will be unable to conduct his real estate business until he has completed and healed from treatment.
