What a devastating and crazy week it has been.
Sunday night our home began to take inches of water but with the release of the water from the reservoirs we were forced to evacuate our home Monday. As of today, no one has been able to get to our home. However, we have been told that it currently has anywhere between 2.5 - 3 feet of standing water throughout. The entire bottom floor furniture and appliances are lost.
Because of the continued uncontrolled flow of the reservoirs, we just received news that they may leave our house intentionally flooded for up to 3 weeks. We were able to move many things (clothes, rugs, chairs, etc.) up to our second floor but if the water sits in our home for the projected 3 weeks - we are uncertain of the long-term effects.
Our hearts are broken and there are many ups and downs. Carrying our children and pets through waist-high water to higher ground is a life event I will never forget. We are thankful to have family nearby and a home to stay in for a few days, but we will need to seek long-term arrangements next week.
As our neighbor Chuck Poteet constantly reminded - Faith not fear. While this is such a tragedy, we know God is good. We know He will sustain and are thankful for his provision and mercy.
