Brother's Fight To Live

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Giana. This Go Fund Me campaign is to help my sister's friend in the Philippines, Nicole Go, regarding her brother's medical bills. This is her story:

I, Nicole Go, I am writing to you, on behalf of my brother, James Patrick M. Go, to request financial assistance to help him cover his hospital bills.

Currently, my brother is admitted to the ICU of Davao Doctor’s Hospital because he had three cardiac arrests. On March 16, 2023, we rushed him to the hospital because of a heart attack. He was immediately transferred to the ICU for monitoring. On March 18, 2023, he had a cardiac arrest which required intubation for a mechanical ventilator and defibrillator. On March 20, 2023, he had two more cardiac arrests. He was stabilized but then a few days after, they found an internal bleed in his abdomen. He lost a total of about 5.5 liters of blood. They are stabilizing him for another surgery. He is also diagnosed with Myocarditis, an infection of the heart.

Throughout the whole time, my brother would cry as he tells us that he does not want to die and that he wants to live.

Initially, our hospital bill reached Php 1,821,683.40. But is now nearing Php 3 Million and will continue to rise as we pay almost Php150,000 everyday (without doctor's fee). We have no means to continue his treatment and pay for his hospital bill.

To give you a history of his disease, in 2004, at the age of 13, he was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome and Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). He underwent treatment such as chemotherapy and high-dose steroid treatment for his kidney disease. However, the treatments couldn’t cure his disease. In 2009, at the age of 19, he underwent kidney dialysis and a kidney transplant operation as he was already at end-stage kidney failure.

In 2015, he had complications and was treated for Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection. From 76 kilograms, he lost weight and became 33 kilograms, all in a span of two months. Still, he was able to recover from the disease through the treatment that was given.

However, in late 2019 and early 2020, he was admitted to the hospital for more than a month. He stayed in the ICU for two weeks and was diagnosed with stage 4 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He is now in remission after going through intensive chemotherapy.

But his struggles did not end there. In 2021, he acquired the Covid-19 virus and was hospitalized for three weeks. The doctors had told us that there are chances the effect of the virus will lead to kidney failure.
He was recently admitted for emergency dialysis and is now undergoing dialysis three times a week as he has now been diagnosed with kidney failure.

My brother is now 33 years old. It has been almost 20 years since he was first diagnosed with kidney disease. He is a fighter. Despite all the hurdles that life gives him, he chooses to fight with all that he has got. But fighting also takes a toll on all of us, especially in terms of finances. He is unable to work because of his condition. In addition, we are also still paying all the loans we have from all his medical expenses, medications, and hospitalizations from way back in 2015.

As mentioned earlier, our initial hospital bill has reached Php 1,821,683.40. And this will continue to rise as he is still unstable and will have to undergo another surgery. We have no means to continue his treatment and pay for his bills.

In view of this, I am knocking on your hearts, to request assistance for my brother’s hospital bill.

Any amount will be greatly appreciated. Please keep our family in your prayers as we embark on this journey. Thank you.
