Brother of Marine Vet -Victim of Carjacking in NYC

Brother of a Marine Veteran Nick Topilnycky (my husband Steve Topilnycky's brother. Steve a Correction Officer, Marine, Veteran, MCL) Nick who was born & raised in Hastings on Hudson, NY (they also lived Beacon Hill Dobbs Ferry & Poets Corners Hartsdale) is also married to my sister Adele (born, raised in Hartsdale, NY) was car jacked in NYC (53rd & 2nd) on Tuesday Night. He is self employed, self insured & operates a town car as a contractor taking limo jobs.

On Tuesday evening he was doing a drop off in NYC when someone car jacked him. The thief crushed Nick between his car & parked cars before speeding off with his car, his wallet & phone. They tracked the car down with GPS but it is trashed.

Nick is in Cornell Hospital (A trauma 1 hospital) in surgical ICU where he has:
- 12 broken ribs (5 on one side 7 on the other).
- On a ventilator
- Feeding Tube
- Blood in his chest
- 2 collapsed lobes (lungs)
- Running a 103F fever
Today they are going to go in through his chest to clean out his lungs & check for punctures. Unfortunately when Nick doesn't work the family loses his income. My sister works but doesn't bring in enough $ to support the house, bills & medical bills. She is stretched to the limit. I wish I had the $ to give to her but don't. This is our only option while waiting to see what insurance will cover Adele still has to pay their mortgage & other medical bills

~ Past History ~
Nick was diagnosed with a rare disease, known as Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (Wegener’s arteritis or Wegener’s disease). An autoimmune disease that there is an estimate of 3 in 100,000 cases. He was started on a drug infusion regime, that at the cost of $26,000 an infusion. He has the infusions in four week intervals initially and then every six months, with the last two treatments in December 2017. The billing was $62,000 each, but he become immune to the treatments. In January 2018, he came down with collapsed right lung. The doctors went inside with balloon to expand his lung 3 times, then he had a heart attack, with 3 stents inserted, he suffered two blood clots. Unsteady on his feet he fell breaking his arm, he continued to try to work.

With being self-employed, he has a great loss of income. With this, only adds an even greater burden on him and his family. If anyone can help it is much appreciated or simply offering a prayer for his recovery.
