Brother Injured
Our friend and brother Robert “Dietz” Devant after a valiant struggle with sickness, he has passed to eternity. Dietz was a simple man. What you saw is what you got. He was a third generation Elevator Constructor, and one of his children has carried the legacy into the 4th generation. He was out of work for quite some many months, trying to get healthy and return to work. All he could say in our conversations was, “I miss the guys.”
He was a man that always gave of himself, no matter what. There are many of us that are better people because of him. He always had great advise for us. He had many solutions for us. Got us out of many situations. Even when the situations seemed bleak, he would lighten the mood with one of his “Corny Jokes.” He hated driving down to Miami-Dade County, but endured what he called, “The Golden Sphincter”, (Golden Glades) everyday to do what he loved to do, (other than fishing), fix and help fix elevators.
I believe he touched many of our lives. Some of us have experienced loss in recent and past times, and know the difficulties that present themselves during those times. Let’s show our hearts and help ease the pain the Devant Family is enduring, by the gift of generosity. Let’s show our kindness and show our appreciation for Dietz and what he has meant to all of us. Let’s make a definitive statement and show our love to the Devant Family.
