<div><strong>The Brooklyn Tavern Theater backstory:</strong>

<div>Brooklyn Tavern Theater was launched in 2019 with a tavern production of <strong><em>Impossible But True</em></strong> at Franklin 820, a colorful bar in Crown Heights. No admission was charged. The keyboard was carried up to a balcony 10 feet above the bar and actors (with our director Cailín Heffernan) carved out a playing area in the center of the bar...

<div>Since 2019, we have produced <strong>4 new musicals</strong> in over <strong>10 venues around New York City</strong>!

<div>BTT Goals:

<div>We aim to <strong>continue our mission of doing original music theater in local taverns and unconventional theater spaces. </strong>We also intend to promote the shows we have premiered more widely—in particular, <strong><em>The Joe Hill Revival</em></strong>—an inspirational story that takes up the early years of the American labor movement that we hope to share with a wider audience.

<div><strong><em>Walls and Windows</em></strong><em> </em>is a new step for us--in the Fall of 2024 we constructed a set that can feature projections of Hopper's art behind the actors as an equal element with the staging and the music. We produced a staged reading with a revised script and new songs at Brooklyn Art Haus in May of  2026.

<div>Because we have little overhead, we are able to do shows at a fraction of the price of larger theaters. But <strong>we still need outside funding to reach these goals</strong>. Help us reach new audiences in 2026 with <strong>original musical theater in Brooklyn</strong> and beyond!
