<div>Three years ago, what began as a creative response to pandemic boredom grew into <em>BrooklynStart</em>, "a show about a conversation that no one wants to have". It was a TikTok sensation that slowly morphed into a brand new streaming series I filmed with my students at our failed performing arts school in Brooklyn.

<div>In 2014, the Civil Rights Project at UCLA reported that the New York City public school system was the most segregated school system in the United States. <em>BrooklynStart</em> is set against that backdrop and takes place in 'Black Brooklyn' . The story revolves around a group of urban millennials navigating Brooklyn gentrification, and an African-American teenage girl who longs to be a Broadway stage manager, but can't find the training she needs at her pitiful, performing arts school.

<div>The donation you're making today will help <em>BrooklynStart </em>reach new potential producers. Using the funds we raise, we will film a six minute <em>BrooklynStart </em>series trailer in the summer of 2024. It will be ready to enter showrunner and producer tv/film festivals in the fall of 2024.
