Brooklyn's Leukemia Battle

Hi, my name is Jenn. I am fundraising for Brooklyn and her family.

This past July Brooklyn started having pain in her neck, sore throat, and sores down her throat. After many trips to the emergency department being misdiagnosed with mono and viral infections Brooklyn became very ill. Her mother Kristina took Brooklyn to COPC on October 28thwhere they finally took blood and got some testing on the go. Later that evening kristina got a call no parent could ever be prepared for..... "I'm sorry these are not the results we hoped for. Brooklyn has cancer cells in her blood" They packed some hospital bags and headed to KGH to be admitted. The Dr explained that there were leukemia cells in Brooklyns blood. The following day, October 29th, they were given the diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia or AML. Brooklyn started chemotherapy and is in high spirits, making jokes, just being a typical 16 year old kid as much as that is possible right now. She tires very easily and has lots of naps which is expected. Brooklyn will get her treatment plan in the coming days and see what that will look like.

Kristina took an immediate leave of absence from her part time job as a porter at the hospital. Kristina doesn't have any benefits, and will be collecting EI. Parking, gas, food, bills, christmas are all going to be very difficult for this single mom of 3. That's right this super mom of 3 really needs the help of our community to help keep her strong for those 3 amazing kids.
