Brooklyn Kids Head to Costa Rica!
Donation protected
Boerum Hill School for International Studies students are going to Costa Rica...but they need your help!
For 8 days over Spring Break 2019, our high school students will have the opportunity to travel to the rainforests, villages and cities of Costa Rica. Once there, they will immerse themselves in Costa Rican culture; taking part in the wonderful activities the country has to offer, as well as learning about the local community.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our students, many of which have never been outside of New York. We are looking for financial assistance in order to offset some of the cost for the parents and students, and perhaps even fully fund other students in need.
My students are a hard-working, inquisitive, and daring bunch. Almost all come from the inner city and qualify for free and reduced lunch. All of them are also enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program; a rigorous, demanding level of education. Their constant drive on the path to college never ceases to amaze me and, in my opinion, they are the best Brooklyn has to offer. I'm proud to be able to offer them this opportunity, and even more proud to be their teacher.
100% of money raised will go towards sending a student to Costa Rica. They are working hard to fundraise on their own; knocking on doors and planning events and pitches to local businesses. They're tireless and dedicated, but they need more help. Please contribute and make a difference in a teenager's life!
