Brooke's Battle

Today, the most compassionate and giving person I know is in need of help. At 21 years old, my sister Brooke has been diagnosed with her second bout of cancer. Her first was as a child battling Leukemia and now she is faced with a rare Uterine Cancer, Endometrial Stromal Sarcoma. This is an aggressive cancer that is extremely rare in her age bracket.

This specific form of Uterine Cancer requires her to have multiple reproductive organs removed. Meaning, she will be unable to bear children. I think this has been the most difficult realization for her.  The longing to bear her own children is a truly deep desire, one that has been taken away from her. She is now in the process of cryopreservation of her eggs. This process is viewed as voluntary by insurance, therefore is not covered.

The amount of medical care and expenses far exceed her financial standing. We have found resources to assist her with the burden of the cancer treatments. However we have not been able to identify resources for cryopreservation. My goal is to help keep her dream of having children alive. Please consider helping me give my little sister the opportunity to have her own family in the future.

Brooke is the kind of soul you meet once in a lifetime. She is pure and wholehearted, with unwavering certainty she is destined for great things. Her entrepreneurial spirit is one that many yearn for. The heart on her sleeve allows her to feel more than most. It allows her to absorb the world's beauty for what it is, not what it has done. I, view her as that of an Empath; someone who succumbs to the emotional well-being of others with an innate ability to harness that raw emotion into her own fuel and energy.  I so desperately want her to be able to pass that on to her children; to lead them down their path with her experiences and wisdom.
