Brooke Branch's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
About a year ago, one of my very best friends found out her daughter had a cyst on her pineal gland, which is located deep in the center of the brain. It seems these cysts/tumors can be common in teenagers and typically go untreated because of the lack of symptoms. However, in Brooke’s case her symptoms were severe and all her physicians kept giving her drug after drug, which made Brooke even more sick.

After months of suffering, the pain from the tumor had progressed to a level that Brooke had to stop attending high school at Boone last year. Although Brooke returned to school as a junior just a few weeks ago, her life is anything but normal. As a mother, Lori could not stand by and watch their daughter suffer any longer. After a year long of visits to local specialists and watching their daughter suffer from severe headaches, blackouts, nausea, and sleep deprivation, Lori reached out to Dr. Kim, a neurosurgeon in Texas. Dr. Kim is not just any surgeon, but is the Director of the Mischer Neuroscience Institute at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center as well as The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Finally, our prayers have been answered. Dr. Kim agreed to see Brooke. In early July of this year Lori and Brooke flew to Texas to meet him. On one hand we were ecstatic that Dr.Kim agreed to perform this delicate brain surgery on Brooke, but we also knew with surgery there are risks. We know God is in control and have been praying for Brooke and her family for over a year.

Brooke’s surgery was this morning at 7:30am. The surgery took a little over 6 hours and Brooke is still in recovery and will be moved to ICU as soon as Dr. Kim gives the okay. The Branch family is so dear to my heart and I would appreciate it if any one would like to help me raise money to help with their out of pocket medical expenses, flights, and hotel accommodations.  Lori and Brooke will need to stay in Texas for at least two weeks. I didn’t want to post this until I knew Lori and Brooke were already in Texas because Lori would have made me take it down. If I could ask one more thing from everyone - Please pray for Brooke, Lori, Greg, and Amanda. We love you Gooch!!
