Brommy's Beard Begone

Donation protected
It’s time to run the beard off.

The end of 2016 was the last time I had a shave. This was never a planned thing. It was school holidays, and for 5 and a half weeks, I let my facial hair run free. That was about 20 months ago. Since then, the beard has taken on a personality of it’s own. Yes I have become attached to my beard. Yes it is a great conversation starter, especially with the students I teach at school.

But it’s time. Time to say goodbye to the beard. And time to put this beard to good use (more so than collecting bits of food throughout the day).

The goal - run 3 marathons (42kms x 3 = 126km) before the end of the year and raise more than $3000 for Destiny Rescue. If this can be accomplished, then the beard will be shaved off after the 3rd marathon has been completed towards the end of the year.

Destiny Rescue is an internationally-recognized non-profit organisation dedicated to rescuing children trapped in the sex trade. Their vision is to rescue the sexually exploited and enslaved, restore the abused, protect the vulnerable, empower the poor and be a voice for those who can’t speak up for themselves.

They currently operate various programs in Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines and India. Since 2011, they have rescued nearly 2000 children enslaved around the world, helped keep hundreds more from entering the sex trade through their various prevention programs.

At this stage I have signed up to run the Blackmores Sydney Marathon on the 16th of September. This will be the first ever marathon that I have run. I have also signed up to run the Jervis Bay Marathon on the 21st of October. The 3rd and final marathon is the Gold Coast on the 9th of December which is actually a 50km event!

Whether you want to support/encourage me in running the marathons; or if you want to help a great cause; or if you simply want to endorse the removal of the beard, all money donated will go a long way to making a difference in the lives of many who are less fortunate.

Feel free to spread the word by sharing my page with your family and friends. I have also created an instagram account to record the journey for the rest of the year. Go to - www.instagram.com/brommysbeardbegone/

Thank-you in advance for all your generosity and support!
