Brokest Fest Fundraiser

Donation protected

Over a dozen local acts will play at the Bowring Park Amphitheatre on September 4th for Brokest Fest.

This free, mini-music festival is being put together by a group of volunteers as a celebration of local music after a year of so little.

Because it's an outdoor event in a public space, it would be difficult to manage tickets and would require fencing or security and that's really not our style. We want this to be an inviting and fun all-ages concert with a variety of different styles of music.

But we also think it's important to pay musicians. That's why we're setting up this fundraiser.

Our goal is to pay $50 to solo acts, $200 to bands and cover rental costs. This will amount to approximately $2100.

If we don't reach that goal, we will reassess and try and make another arrangement that is fair to everyone.

But if we manage to reach that goal and receive more, all additional funds will be donated to the Welcome Rainbow project by the Association for New Canadians, which sponsors LGBTQ+ refugees to come to Canada and helps them transition to their new life once here.

Some countries around the world still have laws which put LGBTQ+ people in danger of torture, imprisonment and death. As well, some refugee camps are dangerous for LGBTQ+ people and because of the COVID-19 pandemic, new arrivals have slowed down.

If you love local music, want to support local artists and can spare a couple dollars, we'd greatly appreciate it!

Bands include :

Birch Beer, Tunnel Vision, Colleen Power, Andrew Waterman, Steffi the Artist, Albert Dalton, g_sm00th, Joe Grizzly, Cicerone, Swimming, Salem Creeps, PUCE
