Brock's Recovery Fund

Donation protected

If you know Brock then you know that he is one of the most compassionate, caring, and hard working people you will ever meet. Amongst his friends, family and fellow athletes, Brock has always been a pillar of strength: the first to lend a hand or an ear in a time of need. That makes this story even more difficult to share.

On July 3, Brock and his fiancée Carrie were enjoying a day on the water with friends when Brock sustained a spinal cord injury in a diving accident. He was rushed to Virginia Beach General Hospital where surgery was performed on July 5 to stabilize his fractured C5 vertebrae and start the path to recovery. Surgery went well and Brock has begun the very early stages of recovery, working with Physical Therapy and doing as much as he can on his own to regain strength and stay positive. Brock is currently alert and able to breathe, swallow, hold a cup on his own. He has movement in his upper body and sensation throughout his body. Brock is currently unable to move from the chest down.

Born and raised in Washington State, Brock was drafted out of high school to the Minnesota Twins and played fourteen years of professional baseball with multiple clubs. Following his baseball career, Brock settled in Virginia Beach and focused on his next goal: college. True to form, Brock earned his Bachelor's in Finance from Old Dominion University in less than 3 years, all while continuing to share his passion for baseball with the community. Brock is actively engaged in various mentoring, coaching, and fitness activities with youth in Virginia Beach. Brock most recently transitioned his passion for fitness into a career in orthopedic device sales.

If you know Brock-you know. Brock's grit and determination are unmatched and he will work as hard as possible to recover. The next few weeks will be spent recovering from surgery in Virginia Beach and then he will hopefully move on to an intensive spinal cord rehabilitation facility.

The motivation for this GoFundMe campaign is to support Brock's recovery and his eventual return to independence by assisting with medical bills, travel expenses for family, rehabilitation, and housing adjustments. Any donation will be greatly appreciated and all funds will go directly to Brock.

The journey ahead is long and full of uncertainty. With the love and support of family and friends, it is our belief that anything is possible.
