Brock and Tammy Godwin

Donation protected

*UPDATE BELOW
On Thursday July 6, Brock Joseph Godwin, husband and father of 2 started feeling weak at work. Brocks boss and coworkers immediately informed his wife, and brought him to the hospital. He was lethargic by the time he arrived. He was immediately treated for what was assumed to be heatstroke. An MRI, CT scan and blood work was done.
The tests found he had a severe infection in his blood and had gone septic because his body could not fight off an infection due to his lack of spleen.
Within 12 hours of arriving at the ER, Brock had declined rapidly. He told his wife that he knew he was dying and that he loved her and to tell his sons he loved them. He was intubated shortly after. At 5:16am July 7, less that 24 hours after his arrival at the hospital, Brock coded and was unable to be resuscitated.

Brock was a loving husband and father. Unfortunately he did not have life insurance. His wife, Tammy, is in stage 4 kidney failure, is unable to work, and has no income. She is now the sole parent of an active 10 year old and a special needs teen.

The family is asking for help with Brocks arrangements as well as help lifting the financial burden that his passing has caused. Without help, their everyday bills will become overwhelming debt.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this extremely heartbreaking and challenging time.

Saturday July 15th, visitation from 10-11, Memorial at 11:00, fellowship lunch afterwards. At Jabobs Well Church in back of Diamondhead, 29554 Vic Faye Road, Pass Christian, MS 39571

UPDATE

Only 5 weeks after Brock Godwins sudden death, Tammy Godwin started throwing up. This was not unusual for the severe diabetic.

But the nausea continued, so her family took her to the hospital. Her sons, 10-year-old Timothy and 18-year-old Brandon, who is mentally disabled, were frightened to see their mom go.

“Brock went to the hospital and didn’t come back,” Bergeron said. “That’s all (the boys) could say.”

Tammy Godwin almost didn’t come back. She was admitted on August 15. A cardiac catheterization showed she had two blocked arteries. Doctors put a stint in one. She still needs a second stint.

She had a heart attack and went into kidney failure. She was in the hospital, and then in rehab, until Tuesday. The family is now staying with Wanda Bergeron and Tammy Godwin’s father, Tommy Bergeron, in their Kiln home.

Tammy Godwin has to have dialysis three times a week. She will need a kidney transplant, if she qualifies, her stepmother said.

With Brock Godwin’s death, the family lost any regular income. Tammy Godwin will get a Social Security check and recently qualified for disability.

After her heart attack, Tammy Godwin forgot that her husband was dead and had to be told all over again. She is still grieving.

The two would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in December. They met when he asked her to dance while they were out one night.

Tammy Godwin, who is 46, just wants to be able to return one day to her home in Lakeshore and take care of her boys.

“They’ve been through a lot,” she said. “It scared them after I got sick after what happened with their dad. She is grateful to her family and friends for stepping in after her husband’s death. “I’m in therapy to try to walk,” she said. “I can’t walk very far”
Family and friends help keep her going. Plus, Godwin said, “My faith is what gets me through.”
