Brock Fire Relief - Pittstown, NY

On December 27, 2017 my family experienced a tragedy that not only affected us, but the whole Pittstown community, when my grandfather, Ed Brock, lost his home to a fire.
Built in the 1760s, the home on Eycleshymer Road in Pittstown has been occupied by our family for generations. My grandfather spent his whole life at the address, and is the same house where my mother, my aunt, my uncle, and myself also spent our childhoods. Many Pittstown residents have fond memories spent at my grandfather’s home, but due to the fire, the home is a total loss. To say that this event has devastated our family is an understatement.
Thankfully, my grandfather was not home when the fire broke out and he was not harmed. However, all of his possessions were lost, including basic essentials such as clothes. Very few items were able to be recovered.
I, Kathy Koletas, grand daughter of Ed Brock, and former resident of the home, am launching this campaign with the support of my immediate and extended family, with a goal of $2500 to try to help my grandfather get back on his feet - for housing, for clothes, bills, etc. There was no insurance on the home due to its age.
We understand that with the holidays having just passed, that many may be tight for funds, but our family truly appreciates any and all donations received, no matter how big or small. We are grateful to live in a community of people who pull together and support each other in times of tragedy, and anyone who knows my grandfather knows that he would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. I hope that we, as a community, can come together to support him just the same.
All donations received will be given directly to Ed Brock to use at his discretion, whether it be for expenses related to the fire, housing, clothing, etc.
I would also like to take the opportunity to thank all of the fire departments and first responders who spent all day in the freezing cold getting the fire out and supporting our family. Thank you also to all of our friends who came by to offer us their love and kind words. My family appreciates you all from the bottom of our hearts.
