Brock and Ella NICU Costs

On Monday October, 16th, Brock and Ella went in for their normal pregnancy check up. Ella was just under 30 weeks pregnant. Ella's blood pressure was unusually high so she was admitted into the hospital. When her blood pressure wasn't able to be controlled and with preeclampsia starting, the doctors made the decision to induce labor on Wednesday, October, 17th. When baby Lewis didn't respond well, the tough decision was made to have a c-section in the early morning hours on Thursday.
On Thursday October, 19th at 5:19 am, Charles Lewis Kairos Tendick blessed us with his arrival. At birth, Lewis weighed only 2 lbs. 9 oz. He is 14.2 inches long. Although he currently weighs less than a toaster, he contains more love than you could possibly know.
So far, Mommy and baby Lewis have done well. Lewis is doing well and breathing better than excepted. The doctors will continue to monitor Lewis but as of now there is no timeline of when he will leave the NICU.
If you know Brock or Ella, then you know that they have always been there for friends, family, even strangers whenever there has been need. In my own life, Brock has never failed to step up to the plate to help me whether it was financial, emotional, physical, or spiritual. Brock and Ella have helped others a countless number of times without asking for anything in return. I hope that we can all come together and repay the many favors.
A regular child birth cost between $10,000-15,000. The cost of 8-weeks in the NICU can cost upwards of $250,000! Not to mention the lost wages from Ella and Brock missing time at work.
