I had a lot of reservations about creating this gofundme. I just don’t like asking for help.

I’ve always taken pride in being independent, in hard work, in saving and investing. But disease is expensive.

In 2017, I spent:

$55,000 Stem Cell Transplant
$9,500 ramp and sidewalk
$3500 Power wheelchair
$3000 Hospital bed
$5500 Out of pocket insurance maximum
$150 per visit for wheelchair transportation

But I’m determined to keep working and stay out of a nursing home. I want to be alive and present for my boys. And I ’ve reached a point where I need to ask for help.

Ever since I could no longer take care of myself last holiday season, my mother has been here helping—1 year now. Her home and everything she knows is in Proctorville, Ohio. To her, Cincinnati is like NYC by comparison. My mother is too old for this to continue, and now that I’m finishing my stem cell transplant, I need to work on getting her home.

I’m going to need a fair amount of luck, out of pocket physical therapy, a wheelchair minivan. Perhaps a morning and evening home health aid. Minivans run up to $75K or so...a home health aid $30K annually. Physical therapy probably $75/hour.

My hope is that a large number of people can make a small donation. That way my ask will be low, but the impact high.

Thank you in advance...
