Brittney's Baha Hearing Surgery

Hi, My name is Brittney. I'm a senior in high school and i'll be 18 in a couple of weeks. I have pendred syndrome and was born deaf in my left ear. Throughout elementary school my hearing in my right ear also started to fluctuate.  Although i've done very well at adapting to my hearing loss it also makes my life a lot more challenging.  This last year I was introduced to the Baha, a device that is incredibly life changing. The Baha is a bone anchored hearing aid, it's a type of hearing aid that conducts sound through bone conduction. I had the oppurtunity to try the non- surgical version of the device to see what it would be like. The second it turned on my world changed in the best way possible. I heard my mom clearer than i've ever heard her and on my left side! I also was able to talk on the phone with my bad ear and hear every word.  I was able to hear my own voice so much better when I spoke, and the music on the radio wasn't so jumbled. I was able to hear things that I've never heard before and sounds I didn't even  realize existed. This device if recieved would help me immensely. I'm going of to college next year and I feel it would significantly improve my ability to process information given to me. My education is something that I value a lot and this would make things much less challenging. Not only would it help me educationally but socially. Friends and family will be able to talk to me with more ease without having to make so many accomodations. Being able to get through a conversation without asking someone to repeat what they had said again would be amazing. I also have a passion for singing and music. Being able to hear myself louder and clearer would be a dream come true. Getting this surgery would be the greatest blessing I'd ever recieve. My insureance won't cover anything so  anthing you can contribute would be amazing. Thank you so much.
