<div>**An Update on Britta’s Journey — Thank You for Walking With Us in Faith **

<div>We want to begin by saying thank you. Your prayers, encouragement, and generosity have been a true reminder of God’s love throughout Britta’s cancer journey. During some of the hardest days, your support has helped carry her when she didn’t have the strength to carry herself.
</div>

<div>Britta continues to move forward with hope and trust in the Lord, taking each day as it comes. While healing is happening, recovery has been slower than expected, and she is still only able to work one or two days at a time as her health allows. In May, she will undergo a minor corrective surgery as part of her continued treatment and healing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This season has required great humility and faith. Britta is doing everything she can to remain stable financially while focusing on recovery — including relying on local food pantries to help meet daily needs. Many assistance programs require proof that someone is already behind or in crisis before help is available, and our prayer is to keep Britta afloat and supported so she does not fall back into that place again.

<div>She is *almost* back on her feet. But can I just say it again… **CANCER REALLY, REALLY STINKS.**

<div>She still hasn’t been able to return to work. The body is such a strange thing—when it needs to heal, everything slows down, and you’re forced to take it one day at a time. She’s still having to take things very slowly, and being sick is incredibly frustrating when all you want is to move forward with life.
</div>

<div>The 6 hour surgery was successful for Britta. This one surgery was like three surgeries in one. DIEP surgery has a high rate of success, which means very few complications.

<div>What Britta still needs. She is in the process of applying for short term disability- but will need help with March- May rent as working will start up back in late February- we hope!

She’s battled breast cancer, multiple surgeries, and housing loss, yet continues to trust God and pray for others. As Christians, we’re called to lift one another up in times of need. <div>My name is Britta, and I’ve been fighting breast cancer—and fighting to rebuild my life—since 2022. I’ve endured more surgeries, losses, and moves than I can count, but I’m still here, grateful, hopeful, and trusting in God’s plan. Now, I need your help to finally heal, complete my reconstruction, and find safe, stable housing.

<div>My Journey So Far

<div>October 2022: I found a lump in my breast—after losing over 100 pounds so I could replace my two bone-on-bone hips. Doctors said most lumps are benign. Mine wasn’t.
</div>
<div>The biopsy confirmed an invasive lobular carcinoma, estrogen and progesterone positive. The same week, I was evicted from my apartment.
</div>

<div>December 2022: I had surgery to remove a 4.2 cm tumor and ten lymph nodes. A friend let me stay with her while I recovered, but my four kids (then 8, 11, 14, and 16) couldn’t stay there with me.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After eight weeks, I returned to my job at the arena—serving, bartending, and marketing concerts and hockey games. Just a week later, I developed a severe infection. My chest expander failed, and I nearly died from sepsis. I spent 17 days in the hospital fighting for my life.
</div>

</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Since that first surgery, I’ve had eight major surgeries, and my ninth is coming soon—a full breast reconstruction (DIEP flap surgery) at Tampa General Hospital.
</div>
<div>Medicaid covers the surgery itself, but I have nowhere stable to recover. I’ve moved 14 times in less than three years and am currently staying at a Catholic Charities Hope Center—in a tent.
</div>

<div>Through it all, I’ve kept my faith and sense of humor. I’ve substitute taught, worked when my body allowed, and prayed through every setback. But the reality is: I need help to survive this next step.
</div>

<div>My right tissue expander has ruptured and grown into my ribs, causing severe pain and posture problems. This next surgery will not only restore my health but my dignity. I want to heal fully, reunite with my kids, and move forward with my dream of becoming a nurse through USF’s accelerated RN program by 2027.

<div>I’ve offered up my suffering for others, prayed for those in need, and trusted in Divine Guidance through every storm. I believe God still has a purpose for me — to share hope, healing, and humor through faith.
