British Embassy The Hague - Airborne Wandeltocht
Donation protected
The British Embassy The Hague is entering a team to walk the 15k distance in the 77th Airborne Wandeltocht on the 7th of September.
This commemorative march, in remembrance of the Battle of Arnhem in 1944, is an annual day of remembrance on the first Saturday of September in Oosterbeek. The Airborne March is a tribute to the more than 1,700 British and Polish soldiers who lost their lives in the Battle of Arnhem who are buried at the Airborne Cemetery in Oosterbeek.
With your support, the British Embassy The Hague will be raising money for the Taxi Charity for UK Veterans, and the Airborne Memorial Needle Monument in Oosterbeek.
The Taxi Charity for UK Veterans helps WWII veterans, in their homes and hospitals, throughout London and the home counties, by providing entertainment, outings and much needed specialised equipment. Their aim is to work for the benefit, comfort and enjoyment of military veterans.

In 1947, Queen Wilhelmina unveiled the Airborne Memorial in Oosterbeek commemorating the Battle of Arnhem in 1944, otherwise known as the Needle. Every year, the Airborne ceremony takes place at the Needle, which forms the first commemoration in the framework of all Battle of Arnhem related ceremonial events.
