My name is Harry Matheu, I'm one of the owners of the iconic Brite Spot Diner in Echo Park. My business partner David Agnew and I are proud to continue the legacy that has been serving Angelenos since 1949. Since taking over about two years ago, we've been staffing-up, increasing hours and bringing back the Brite Spot vibe that everyone remembers: great brunch and even better late night diner fare (finally with cocktails available!). We built a team of 30 to serve our community.
When the pandemic hit, the most tragic thing for David and me was being forced to lay-off the folks who have put their hearts into making Brite Spot the neighborhood gathering place that it is today.
We want to help our Brite Spot community during this very difficult time.
So, together with our incredible chef, Weston Ludeke, we’ve come up with a plan use Brite Spot to feed those in need.
Chef Wes calculated that with some donations from our suppliers, and adequate volume, just $4 could provide a hot, nutritious breakfast for someone who is hungry AND put some of our cooks back to work on the line doing what they love.
This past week, we've given away hundreds of breakfasts every day at the Salvation Army in Watts and Silverlake! We’re proud of our efforts and want them to continue, but to do we need everyone’s help! Buy one meal for $4.00 or 100 meals for $400.00. There's no limit to our cooking capacity to cook, and these folks really need the help right now.
Please help us reach our goal of raising $2,000 per week during the COVID-19 crisis to provide 500 meals each week to those in need.
