Today I am walking out of one of the worst nightmares of my life. Five years ago my son, Todd Leininger, became a political prisoner and hostage in Venezuela. On that day our family was separated from a son, a grandson, a brother and an uncle. On that day I began a fight for his life. You can read Todd’s story on Facebook @BringToddHome. On April the 24th I received a call from the US State Department saying that he had been released! A miracle for sure had occurred, Todd was coming home! On Friday April the 26th, we were reunited, Mother and son, standing in an airport embracing one another, tears flowing down my cheeks, holding on to him for as long as I could. I am still pinching myself to realize it is real. There were so many times we were told they were going to let him go, just to find out it was not going to happen. But finally, he is home and we start the long road to recovery. The emotional cost has been tremendous, the financial cost running into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Todd will now have the task of rebuilding his life. I am reaching out now to ask for your help. This is not something we are accustomed to doing, but at this point Todd needs to start his life over so we have decided to start a GoFundMe page to aid in his recovery.
