Enrique Gilberto Vasquez AKA (Ricky) served in the US Army. He did his tour of duty in Afghanistan and saw way too much for a young man of 20. Ricky served as Mortuary Affairs bringing fallen soldiers home to their families and serving on funeral duties.
Unfortunately, Ricky fell into that dark pit of Post -Traumatic Stress Disorder.
He went for help several times. Ricky was released from the Army on disability because of this.
Sadly this dark pit of PTSD consumed him and he fell deeper and deeper until he was a loss this darkness and he wasn't able to pull himself out of this pit. Ricked died on 08/31/2018.
My nephew Ricky was the most loving and caring young man I knew.
He would give his last dime to his Mother or Grandmother. We lost such a sweet and caring young man at a tender age of 27.
Ricky leaves behind a loving wife and 2-year-old son. His wife has a life insurance policy that will only pay out only if the policy was in effect for two years. The policy is less than a year old. We were told that the Army will give $2,000 for funeral expenses, and this may take 4 to five weeks. The family is still trying to figure things out about what he's entitled to. His
cause of death is still pending, so this is another hickup, another 4 to 5 weeks to wait if he's entitled to anything.
My family is need of assistance in bringing Ricky home ASAP. He is in North Carolina now going through an autopsy and investigations, in the meaning time expenses are adding up in North Carolina.
We would like to give him a proper home going service as he did for others here in New Jersey, his hometown. Ricky left behind a wife and a small son. Who could use financial help with the cost of travel expenses to go to NC and bring his remains back home to have a proper funeral in his hometown in New Jersey. Also needed are financial assistance for Ricky's wife and son to keep them afloat until she gets her life back on track.
As I mentioned earlier, the funds are needed ASAP, he has been detained too long. Ricky's Wife Gia will handle final expenses.
