Bringing lacrosse to Nevada Union High School

In 2006, Gold Country Stampede Lacrosse was founded by a small and determined group of parents and players who wanted to bring lacrosse to our area. Over the past 15 years, thanks to the commitment and hard work of all of the Stampede parents, players, and coaches along the way, our club has continued to grow and thrive. Hundreds of girls and boys in our community have been provided the opportunity to play a sport they love. What began as 1 team of 5 middle school boys has turned into over 120 players on 8 different co-ed, boys and girls teams.

Youth lacrosse is alive and well; however, recreational club lacrosse at the high school level has become nearly obsolete. A large majority of JV & Varsity level teams in our region have transitioned from a recreational club sport to a CIF high school sport, leaving us without any competition. The time has come for them to play for the high school. After years of trying, we have officially been approved by school administration to be the newest spring sport at Nevada Union High School.

A new group of determined parents are leading the charge to keep high school lacrosse in Nevada County. We are ready for our next chapter, lacrosse at Nevada Union.

The time is NOW and we need YOU! Please consider making a donation to help us reach our goal of $20,000. All of the money raised will go directly to purchasing team uniforms, helmets and equipment for players new to the sport. Your donation goes so far beyond helmets and uniforms; your donation is monumental, and essential to bringing lacrosse to Nevada Union this spring season. This fundraiser does not only benefit current high school aged players, but our entire community of lacrosse players who will suit up as NU Miners.

Many of our players dream of playing lacrosse in and beyond high school, but without a high school program, that is simply not possible. Lacrosse scholarships are currently the most widely awarded scholarships of all high school sports. The game has grown and evolved beyond what was traditionally an east coast sport and is having exponential growth across the nation. This is our opportunity to be a part of this growth in a big way. Together, let's put NU on the map as a school with an awesome high school lacrosse program that our community can be proud of.
