Bringing Alex back to life

Donation protected
Lyme disease is erasing my niece Alex from this world.  She has late stage Neurological Lyme Disease and Epstein Barr along with several other co-infections.

Insurance does not cover the cost of her treatment.  I pray you will find it in your heart to read her story and give to help bring this light back to life.

Alex, like many other sufferers, went undiagnosed for nearly a decade while her ability to live slowly slipped away.  Alex once danced every single day of her life and performed up and down the eastern seaboard.  She is a classically trained singer who no longer has the breath to carry a single verse.  She was a social college student, H.O.B.Y leader and Model UN participant and instructor who planned to get her Doctorate and become a university professor.

All have vanished.

Some days you will find her in a wheelchair.  On good days she visits with friends and family as much as possible despite the fact that it can take a week or more to recover.  She relies on her family for constant care while her service dog, Levi, helps her deal with the crippling pain, depression, blood pressure/hormone issues and cognitive impairment.  She does not want to give up, she pressed on even though it took her almost 2 years to finish her last semester of college.

Her diet of 16 foods over the last 2 years is down to 3 (pears, lamb and rice.)  As of the past week she can no longer hold these down and will be living off of pre-digested medicinal shakes costing $300 a week.

She rarely goes outside because most days light and sound are too painful.  Socializing with friends is difficult as smelling certain foods or scents  can cause anaphalaxis. Most days her skin hurts so much even wearing clothing is painful. She deals with chronic inflammation, exhaustion, tremors and so much more.

A program has been identified to save her life and she can start as soon as the money is raised.  The protocol requires IV's 2-4 hours a day for 5 months.  The cost will be close to 80k, if she is lucky.

Alex is embarassed and like many other Lyme sufferers does not want to burden the world with her story.  A child who was born to serve others has now found herself unable to live without the heart of others willing to serve her.   I pray you find it within your hearts and your abilities to help us meet this incredible goal to bring Alex out of the chair and back to the life she dreamed of.
