We are the Lee family and we are in the final stages of internationally adopting from S. Korea! We are so excited to bring our Baby Brother home.
Adoption was something that we had been thinking about ever since Harry and I (Lina) were married. But we really didn't start exploring the option until May 2016. This past July, we were matched with a beautiful baby boy who is about to turn 1 in January. Though our hearts break that we cannot be there to celebrated his 1st birthday with him, we hold on to the fact that he will be home very soon.
Just recently we were notified that our Emigration Permit has been approved which was amazing news! But this happened a few months earlier than we expected. Since we are committed to a debt-free lifestyle, we have cash-flowed this process for the most part (though we had some generous friends already gift us funds to help our adoption processing fee!). At this point, the adoption processing fee is paid but we still have to pay for 2 trips to Korea and post-placement fees. All in all, the adoption process is going to cost us over 40K. It takes a village to raise a child but it may also take a village to bring this child home! We humbly ask that if you have a softness in your heart for adoption, that you help us through the home stretch. The funds that we raise will supplement what we will save over the next few months to cover travel fees, replenish our emergency fund (which we emptied to cover the adoption fee), and purchase a larger (used) vehicle that can fit 3 car seats.
