Bring Sonny Home

Donation protected
My father, Hollis Reed, many of you know him as Sonny, has sadly fallen into unfortunate events. He has worked for the railroad since 1974. He traveled all over the world and had unbelievable love for his family. I guarantee he made friends with everyone he met. Recently working in California, his health diminished out of nowhere! He has suffered from numerous strokes affecting the left and right side of his brain, as well as, his brain stem...resulting in putting him on life support. We, as a family, rushed to be by his side. We are still in shock. Originally from Pine Bluff, AR, but being so well traveled, you can imagine the people that love my dad. I am originally from Jonesboro, AR as well as my brother Revel...My younger brothers, Dylan from Fort Worth, Texas and Landen from Virginia, have been by his side. Not to mention the amazing support from his neice, Jessie and her husband Willis, who traveled 30 hours to California as well. It is amazing how many family members, coworkers, hospital staff, neighbors, and friends are concerned for my father. Doctors do not have much hope. We have asked for different opinions from several different doctors, and they are all the same. Opinion is that he will never walk, talk, or feed himself again after looking at MRI's, CT scans, and EEG's of the brain that was damaged by the strokes. He has also had a feeding tube and tracheotomy done to improve his chances to live. Even if a miracle happens, he may only be able to communicate by blinking and nodding, after intense rehabilitation. I refuse to believe it! I refuse to not see him pull up in that diesel Ford truck ever again. But all we can do is pray, and have hope!! He has so many family members and friends that know he lights up a room! We are working to stabilize him more to move him back home to Arkansas since he is in the ICU in San Jose, CA. We promised him we would never leave him again! He always made a way to support us, he deserves it in return. Our financial problem is, my father, Hollis, has no insurance. His medical bills are accumulating and with no relief in site. We are looking to apply for insurance to help out, due to now he is "disabled" and living on a machine, but any one that knows, knows it could take quite some time to be approved. Also, once he is stable, we plan to move him to a long care facility in Arkansas via ambulance or medflight to be with his family he worked away from for so long. The expenses for that are endless. But again, we have hope! I know that he would want to be with his family. Whether to brave through intense rehabilitation, when a miracle happens, or finish his time here on Earth, he needs to be home. Until that time comes, my family is in going nowhere, staying by his beside, away from our own kids...Attempting to handle his affairs here in California. Juggling the expenses here, as well as, 2000 miles away at our homes, its rough. Also, worried about funding our trip and living while here in California, supporting his hopeful recovery. Were struggling, and anything would be helpful. Paying on his growing medical bills, funding his transfer back home, or helping his family stay by his side will help a great deal. He is irreplaceable to us. We would be forever grateful! And if any of you know my dad, he'd buy you a beer to show his gratitude. Or crack a joke to make light of the situation. Were praying and hoping for a miracle to see that big smile of his again. Thank you all for reading and thank you for any contribution.
Love his daughter, Vieona Payne
