The Campaign Has Ended
Thank you to each person who made a contribution to this campaign. In the end, we raised $2026 through gofundme and an additional $725 outside of the platform for a total of $2431 after transaction fees. Even more spectacularly, we had more than 30 people contribute.
We made a significant contribution to Sila's expenses and supported really important personal and humanitarian work.

Our Story
If you had the chance to see your dad for the first time in 25 years and return home to promote peace in your country, would you go?
My friend Sila Joshua decided that the relative peace in South Sudan, meant that now was the time to return. On July 11th, he left Toronto to travel home for the first time since the civil war broke out.
Sila didn’t know how he’d get into the country, how he’d get home to Mabaan County to see his dad, or how he’d get back to London, Ontario to be with his family.
Well, he’s there now, in the capital city of Juba, through his 14-day self-isolation, and doing what Sila always does, making the best of an almost unimaginable situation.
He is spending his days meeting with young leaders, politicians, and community members: listening, learning, and building relationships in pursuit of a better world for those who are struggling.
What he hasn’t been able to figure out yet is how to pay for the flight from Juba, to his home in Mabaan County to see his family, or how he’ll get back to London, Ontario to be with his wife and two kids.
This is our chance to help.
The total cost of the flights for this trip is $4500.00 CAD and additional funds raised will support Sila to cover the costs of his meetings with youth and leaders in the community.
Let’s bring Sila home.
How can you help?
Any amount that you can give will help to support the cost of Sila’s travel from Juba (where he is currently isolating) to his home in Mabaan county, and then his return trip to his family in London, Ontario. Any additional funds will cover the costs of his meetings with youth and leaders in the community. He finished his two-week isolation period on July 26th, and plans to travel to Mabaan county in the coming days to meet with his family, students, and other Mabaan representatives.
Due to the unpredictable nature of travel in the region, flights cannot be booked very far in advance and thus are very expensive.
The Worga Foundation
In 2016, we founded the Worga Foundation (formerly the Mabaan Global Youth Foundation) to support young leaders to contribute to peace in South Sudan. We do that by supporting Mabaan young leaders in diaspora to achieve their educational goals and return to South Sudan to support their communities. While Sila is in South Sudan, he is advancing the work of the organization and growing our relationships in the region.
