Our Story

Sharon and Thad will be celebrating 55 years of marriage on July 15th. They've been together since high school, built a beautiful family of five children and nine grandchildren, and weathered every storm life has thrown their way.

The Challenge They're Facing

Sharon has suffered several medical issues; however, recently, she developed kidney stones in both kidneys that have led to a severe sepsis infection and UTI. The infection has significantly impacted her mobility, and she's currently receiving care at Willow Park Rehabilitation Center in Willow Park, Texas.

Why This Matters So Much

Sharon is heartbroken to be away from home. After nearly 55 years together, every day apart feels like an eternity. She's fighting not just for her health but also for the chance to return to the place where she's built a life with her husband.

The Good News

Texas has a fantastic program that provides up to 30 hours of weekly nursing care at home. This means Sharon can receive the medical attention she needs while being surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.

$4,900 for necessary legal services to secure eligibility for the home care program

Update: Sharon is making progress and, through physical therapy, has stood and even walked a few steps. We are committed to bringing her home on the weekends when there is no physical therapy, but we are limited by Medicare to 4-hour stays. Either way, this is a psychological benefit to Sharon, so we plan to continue doing this to help her both physically and mentally. Additionally, we are receiving bids to reconstruct her shower to accommodate her disabilities, but we are still short of the necessary funding to do so.
